USG Boral held a ground-breaking ceremony for its new manufacturing plant at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
The new plant will be operated by the company’s India business unit, USG Boral Building Products India. The unit will have a capacity to manufacture 30 million sq mtr of plasterboard capacity.
The plant will add to the company’s presence in India, where it currently operates two other facilities. These include, a nine million sq mtr plasterboard and metal plant in Khushkhera, near New Delhi, and a joint compound and putty plant in the Chennai area.
The company will pour USD 39 million towards the new facility.
The new plant is expected to be fully operational in 18 months. Over 100 people are expected to be employed at full capacity.
The plant is an investment by USG Boral, the joint venture of USG Corporation and Boral.
